Introduction

I'm a conservative politically as you can see from the main page, but also an engineer / scientist with decades of industrial experience, and I find many aspects of "Fringe Science" fascinating (especially masers!). In many ways its the "hidden" applications of Masers (not their existence that is "on the fringe").

A lot of the other "fringee" stuff out there is exactly that "out there". Perhaps they are simply ramblings of mad (wo)men? I look at a lot of it as simply great science fiction because "alternative histories" and the realism they project with the charisma of their charlatan leaders is entertaining - if not incredibly creative. So I love to see the creativity of the human mind demonstrated in pseudo-science! But there is another reason, all current science was at one time or another considered pseudoscience, so there may be some diamonds in the rough that warrent further investigation. Certainly the DoD is taking these things seriously.

Global Warming: The Pseudoscience That Has Gone Mainstream

I know there are true believers in a lot of pseudo-science, but I also believe the current state of science to be in its infancy - i.e. we've got a long way to go. Take quantum physics and general relativity for example. These two branches of physics have been independently verified experimentally to 12 decimal places over the past century, but they contradict each other! That is why I laugh like crazy at the " the science is settled" global alarmists crowd. Their alarmism is based on "computer models" not measurements of the earths average temperatures. Do you trust your weatherman to get the weather right? He uses much simpler models with far more empirical data, and is proven wrong all the time right?

Yes CO₂ levels are rising but CO₂ is a trace gas in the atmosphere and its levels have not been proven to be definitively anthropogenic (i.e. caused by human activity). Even if CO₂ levels were tied to human activity the effect of CO₂ on warming is minimal. So yes, I'm a scientist, and a global warming "denier", and I think its a hoax promoted by the left to increase government control of our lives. If you are a believer watch this video please... For the reasons mentioned above, I enjoy looking at pseudoscience for its entertainment value. I especially like it when it ties into ancient civilizations, history, or WW II (take the Nazi Bell for example). I look at this stuff as really good science fiction. Surprisingly, things that were science Fiction a century ago are now reality - so who are the wacky ones anyway?
